What is Rotary?

Rotary International is the world's premiere service organization currently comprising over 1.2 million business professional and community leaders who volunteer their time, talents, professional skills and energy to improving the lives of people in their local community and others around the world. There are over 32,000 Rotary clubs in more than 200 countries and geographical areas. Clubs are non-political, non-religious, and open to all cultures, races, and creeds. Rotary's main objective is Service  - in the community, in the workplace, and throughout the world. In particular, to encourage and foster:

FIRST: The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;

SECOND: High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;

THIRD: The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business and community life;

FOURTH: The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.

By combining their skills and resources, members of Rotary (known as Rotarians) are able to make a real contribution to the lives of others.

Who is the Rotary Club of Des Plaines?

More than 25 local professionals and community leaders belong to the Rotary Club of Des Plaines.  As Rotarians we believe in giving back to the community on a local level through volunteer action, scholarships, food drives and funding local organizations as well as reaching across the globe, providing resource packages to countries in need, helping fight against polio and sharing our resources in times of need. We invite you to join us for lunch every Thursday at 12:15, at the Golf Center at 353 River Road in the heart of Des Plaines.

What is the Four-Way Test?

Of the things we think, say or do:

Is it the TRUTH?

Is it FAIR to all concerned?

Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?
