Today we got to meet George Sakas, the new Director of Economic Development in the City of Des Plaines. George's position covers everything from streamlining the process by which new businesses start up in the city, to evaluating different corridors and neighborhoods for targeted development.
George has been doing this for more than twenty years, most recently in Schiller Park, so he's familiar with Cook County processes, the northern suburbs, IDOT, and all the other pieces that are involved in addressing these community improvements. Des Plaines has a strong business environment, as our very successful Chamber of Commerce indicates, and we are also a transportation hub, being near the airport, two Metra lines and several major highways.
Our club members had lots of questions for George, his talk was interesting and informative, and we hope to see him back at lunch with us soon!
